📚 The Story of Emojis
Emojis have come a long way since their creation in 1999 by Japanese artist Shigetaka Kurita. Originally designed for a Japanese mobile carrier, these 176 original pictographs have grown into a universal language comprising thousands of symbols, updated annually by the Unicode Consortium.
The word "emoji" comes from Japanese: "e" (絵, picture) + "moji" (文字, character). Despite the similar sound to "emotion," it's actually a happy coincidence! Today, emojis are used by 92% of the online population, with over 10 billion emojis sent daily. The "Face with Tears of Joy" 😂 was even named Oxford Dictionaries' Word of the Year in 2015.
At UseEmoji, we're passionate about keeping up with the latest emoji releases. We update our collection with every Unicode version, ensuring you always have access to the newest emojis as soon as they're available on major platforms.
🛡️ Privacy First
Your privacy matters to us. UseEmoji operates on a simple principle: we collect minimal data to provide our service. Your recently used emojis are stored locally on your device, not on our servers. We don't track your emoji usage, we don't sell your data, and we never will.
We use standard web analytics to understand how visitors use our site (like which emojis are most searched for) to improve our service. We also display non-intrusive advertisements to keep the site free for everyone. You can learn more in our Privacy Policy.
Made with Love
UseEmoji is an independent project created by Shithaarthan with a passion for making the web more expressive. We're constantly improving and adding new features based on user feedback.
